Quality not consistent

I have the Mountain Everest Max with Cherry MX Red switches. I like the very quiet sound of it when pressing down a key, but dislike the pinging sound when releasing the key. So I want to replace these switches.

I have earlier written a review about the Mountain tactile version, not sure why it is not visible. Conclusion was I would have been very good if the quality would have been consistent. But because it isn't, some switch still makes a pinging noise.

So I wanted to give the linear version a try. I expected that it would be quieter than the tactile version. But it isn't really. It is quieter than a Cherry MX Brown, maybe slightly quieter than Cherry MX red and muchg louder than Cherry MX Silent Red. So that was disappointing.
Unfortunately also the linear switches the quality is not consistent at all. I tried some and there are too many with a pinging sound.
Therefore I decided to return it and keep the Mountain tactile switches for the time being.

The Mountain switches are better for the RGB compared to the Cherry ones.

Sound quality not consistent

I have a Mountain Everest max with the Cherry MX Silent Red switches. I do like the very quiet sound when pressing a key, but when you release the key you hear a relatively loud irritating pinging metal sound. (I was already considering returning the keyboard, until I found out the sound must come to the switches itself.) So I gave the Mountain tactile switches a try. The keyboard have 104 switches, so I bought the 110 pcs version.

They are quite louder than Cherry MX Silent Red when pressing a key, however they are little quieter that Cherry MX Brown. When releasing the key there is finally no pinging sound anymore. That is on most switches, because the quality of the individual switches are not consistent at all. There is still a decent amount of switches which still have pinging noise, some more than others. So if you want to get rid of all pinging sound you probably should buy two bags and select the best switches, but that is of course also a very expensive option. This is a very big con for me as this was the reason to changes switches. Therefore I can only give max three stars. If (almost) all switches don't have the pinging sound I would have give full points. I also wonder if the lube could work out and that all keys will make the ping sound again.

The clipping mechanism differs from the Cherry MX switches. In the beginning I found it very difficult to remove the switches. But once you get the right technique it will be easy. You will need to pull back instead of lifting it up.

To my surpise the RGB works better with the Mountain switches. With the Cherry switch if you for example use solid white then it will project a rainbow effect on the keycaps where you see the individual colors red, green and yellow which was very ugly. I never knew it was the fault of the switch. This will not happen anymore on the mountain switch. I also have the feeling that the RGB is now a little brighter.

Btw, the 110pcs are all sold out of Moutain site, so I bought it somewhere else. Not sure how the 110pcs can be sold and the 90 pcs not, because you basically just get a bag with the switches.

Great switches!

I bought the Yellow linear switches, and they are alot better then the standard ones.

They are very responsive, and thats what i wanted. The standard one's needed more pressing before they responded. With these yellow linear switches, they respond immediatly!!
